The pricing for a project will depend on several factors such as:

  • Complexity

  • Deadline

  • Subject matter

  • File format

For example, a non-specialised text with a flexible delivery date will cost less than a highly technical document that is required urgently.

Minimum Charge

Please note a minimum charge of £40 applies to any project.

Rush jobs (same or next day delivery), or scanned documents that require complex formatting may come with a surcharge.

Please provide as much information as possible when requesting a quote, including:

  • The intended use of your document

  • Whether your document is to be printed or used for informational purposes only

Send documents to me for a detailed quotation that you'll usually receive the same day.

Translation and Localisation

The cost of translating or localising Japanese text is calculated by the total number of Japanese characters in the source text.

Based on my experience, I can calculate how much time it will take to research terminology, translate and proofread your text.

Proofreading and Editing

Proofreading and editing services are charged on an hourly rate. This is because the quality of texts can differ widely.

An hourly rate means that you are only billed for the time spent on a project. If the quality of the text is high you will benefit from a lower cost. If the text needs a lot of revision the cost will naturally be higher.

Monolingual proofreading has a lower rate than bilingual editing which requires a much higher degree of input.

All payments should be made within 30 days of invoice and all bank charges borne by the paying party unless otherwise agreed in writing.

For long assignments or texts, I may request an initial payment and periodic partial payments on terms to be agreed.

I accept payment in GBP, JPY and EUR.

I accept bank transfer and PayPal.

Any payment that is not made before the due date shall bear interest at the rate of three per cent (3%) above the base rate of Barclays Bank from time to time calculated on a daily basis from the date when such payment fell due until the date of payment.
